Ludwig Leichhardt, with the full name of Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt (October 23, 1813 Sabrodt, Brandenburg; † probably 1848 in central Australia) was a German explorer, zoologist, botanist and geologist.On his first expedition, which it from Jimbour (at Brisbane) over 4,800 km in the Northern Territory to Port Essington(near Darwin) led Leichhardt discovered the Ost-Nord-Route by the continent. The Prussian exact records, recorded in his trip report "Diary of a Country Travel in Australia by Moreton-Bay to Port Essington during the years 1844 and 1845" helped adventurers and settlers, the new territory to conquer. Leichhardt discovered in the expedition also Australia's largest coal camps and so contributed to the economic success of the country.

Edmund Ludlow (c. 1617 – 1692) was an English parliamentarian, best known for his involvement in the execution of Charles I, and for his Memoirs, which were published posthumously in a rewritten form and which have become a major source for historians of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. After service in the English Civil Wars, Ludlow was elected a Member of the Long Parliament. After the establishment of the Commonwealth in 1649 he was made second-in-command of Parliament's forces in Ireland, before breaking with Oliver Cromwell over the establishment of the Protectorate.
